Hackers at work

What's it about?

The world of news publishing is changing quickly. Rapid advances in digital technology and a spirit of innovation have transformed almost all aspects of newspapers and news media. However, the value of one of the biggest assets that publishing houses hold, their content archives, has yet to be unlocked.

The Media Hack Day 2013 proved to be an inspiring event for everyone involved. The challenge presented to the creative people - programmers, designers, and journalists alike - was to find new ways, reinvent and reengineer newspaper content archives so that their content can become relevant for the content-hungry digital age.

Hacking the watchmi API!

After presenting our watchmi  API in a workshop, the hacking began. 48 hours and some intense clicking and scrolling later, the watchmi EPG API prize and the WTF prize were awarded to Daniel Waardal (Oldhat Syndication) who had created an RSS feed of current german TV-shows, suitable for screensavers.
